Claude Code /mobile: Install the Phone App With One QR Scan

A beginner guide to the /mobile command, which shows a QR code to install the mobile app on your phone — so you can keep working on the go even when away.

Have you ever been working with Claude Code on your desktop, about to head out, and thought "it'd be great if I could keep checking this on my phone"? With just the /mobile command, a QR code for installing the phone app pops right up, and just scanning it with your camera lets you continue working on mobile.

Definition (What It Is)

/mobile is a command that shows on screen a QR code (a square code that links to a URL when scanned with a smartphone camera) for installing the Claude Code mobile app. As aliases (different names for the same function), there are also /ios (for iPhone) and /android (for Android).

Without needing to search the app store separately, point your phone camera at the QR shown on screen and it jumps straight to the install page.

How to Use It (By Difficulty)

Basic — Showing the QR Code

/mobile

Typing this one line shows a QR code for installing the mobile app on screen. Open your phone's default camera app and point it at the QR, and the install link appears. If you want iPhone only, type /ios; for Android, /android gives the same result.

Real-World Example

Showing the QR with /mobile just before heading out and installing the app on your phone lets you check progress and continue light tasks even while moving on the subway or to a cafe. It's handy when you have to leave the desktop but don't want to lose the flow of your work.

Taking It Further

Being able to use Claude Code on your phone means your work doesn't break up even when you're not at your desk. If you're often out on business or on the move, install the app in advance and use it to check notifications that came in while you were away, or leave short instructions from your phone.

Summary

/mobile is a command that shows a QR code for installing the mobile app. Just scan the QR that appears with your phone camera and the app installs. You can also call the same function with /ios and /android. It's good to install it in advance when you want to keep working even while away.
