Have you ever pulled an all-nighter every time because you had no time to make a deck or report? The content is all in your head, but just moving it into Word and dressing it up into PPT slides takes half a day. With Cowork, you can cut that time. Give just the content in words, and it makes the actual document file for you. Word, Excel, PPT, PDF are all possible.

Definition

Cowork's "document creation" is a feature that makes an actual document file when you give just the content. Here, "Cowork" is a workspace that connects your computer's folders or external services to the AI, letting it handle real files. (For reference, Cowork is still a research preview, that is, a trial-stage feature.)

There are four kinds of documents it can make.

  • Word (.docx): Text documents like meeting minutes, reports, proposals
  • Excel (.xlsx): Spreadsheets with tables and charts
  • PPT (.pptx): Presentation slides
  • PDF: Documents for printing and distribution

Give the content in words and it makes them in these formats, and the created file is saved right into your folder.

How to Use (by difficulty)

Basics — Making a Word Document

Say this in the chat box.

이 회의 내용으로 워드 회의록 만들어줘

If you give the meeting content as text along with it, the AI organizes it and makes meeting minutes in .docx (Word file) format. A notice like "Created the minutes file" appears on screen, and the file is saved into your connected folder.

Advanced — Excel with Tables and Charts

이 매출 숫자로 엑셀 표와 막대그래프 만들어줘

If you give the sales numbers along with it, it makes an .xlsx (Excel file) that organizes them into a table and even adds a bar graph (chart). Just toss it the numbers and they are organized into a good-looking table and graph.

Deeper — Converting Formats

You can also convert existing text into a different format. Like turning a blog post into a PDF booklet, or an Excel table into PPT slides. Rather than writing new content, it swaps the content you have into the format you want.

Common Pitfall — Folder Connection Comes First

Documents Cowork makes are saved into your computer's folder. For that, you have to connect that folder to Cowork first. If you say "make a document" without a folder connected, the AI may be at a loss not knowing where to save.

If you are using it for the first time, start by connecting the folder you want to save to (e.g., a work folder inside "My Documents") to Cowork. Connect it once, and the files made after that all stack up neatly in that folder.

Real-World Example

The day before an investor meeting, I was short on time to make a deck. Fortunately I had organized the key content into notes. So I gave those notes and instructed this.

이 메모로 발표용 PPT 10장 만들어줘

Overnight, 10 draft slides were completed. I just refined the wording and touched up the design from there. Work that would have taken a full all-nighter starting from blank, I finished to a draft with a single page of notes.

Using It Further

  • Text → document: Give just notes or meeting content and it makes Word, Excel, PPT, PDF.
  • Format conversion: Convert the content you have into another format, like "blog post into a PDF booklet" or "Excel table into PPT."
  • Save to a connected folder: The made file stays right in your folder, ready to open and use.
  • Chain with research: Bundle with the research feature to handle "research → document creation" in one flow.

Tip: It is okay if the first document is not perfect. Just keep making revision requests in words, like "add a graph to slide 3" or "change the table color." Receiving a draft and refining it is much faster than starting from blank.

Summary

The core fits in one sentence. If you have no time to make a document, just give the notes and leave it to Cowork. It makes Word, Excel, PPT, PDF for you, and even converts formats. Just do not forget to connect the folder where the made file will be saved first.
